From 20 July, Solihull Council is extending the hours of the Solihull Youth Bus to visit seven new neighbourhoods across the borough. This will provide safe spaces and extra hours of youth work by taking creative activities directly to young people who might not have access to youth clubs.

Over 400 young people aged 11–17 have attended more than 100 hours of workshops on the Youth Bus already, trying graffiti art, film making, aerial hoop and much more in a programme delivered in partnership with Streets Studios and the Meriden Adventure Playground Association.

For the last year the bus has been parked up three times a week in Chelmsley Wood and Marston Green. The new extended hours will keep the Solihull Youth Bus on the road throughout the whole week, now travelling further afield into Blythe Valley, Castle Bromwich, Cheswick Green, Dickens Heath, Kingshurst, Shirley and Smith’s Wood.

Councillor Wazma Qais,Cabinet Member for Communities at Solihull Council, said: “The Solihull Youth Bus is already a popular and well-used service, and these extended hours will enable us to reach even more young people across the borough.

“The Youth Bus provides a safe, welcoming space where young people can build friendships, develop confidence, and feel connected to their local community. Whether it's learning new skills, accessing support and guidance, or simply spending time with trusted youth workers, services like this can have a lasting positive impact on a young person's wellbeing and future opportunities.

“We are committed to ensuring that young people have access to the support, activities, and opportunities they need to thrive, and this investment will help us continue to make a real difference in their lives."
