We have recently consulted on a new Issues and Options draft of our new Local Plan.
Issues and options consultation (January 2026)
An issues and options consultation was held between 30 January 2026 and 16 March 2026.

Public drop-in events
Drop-in events were held across the borough so that people can discuss the consultation in person with council officers. These took place at Dickens Heath Library, The Core Library, Knowle Village Hall, Balsall Common Library and Chelmsley Wood Library.
Call for sites (November 2024)
From Friday 29 November 2024 to Friday 31 January 2025, the Council invited landowners, residents and other interested parties to submit sites that could have development potential. This resulted in over 300 sites being suggested.
It is important to note that this is a land availability exercise, and it does not necessarily mean that these sites are suitable for development.
Through the plan-making process, the Council will determine how much growth should be included in the plan, and where it should be located.
You can view the submitted sites and what land is being promoted for inclusion in the plan.
We will undertake a thorough review of the sites before concluding which ones may be considered suitable for development.
