As part of the ‘graduated approach’, schools can request additional provision from the CLD team in the form of 1:1 or small group intervention to improve pupil outcomes. Ordinarily, the focus would be on literacy or numeracy skill development.
Our programmes are differentiated and personalised, and use a range of engaging multi-sensory resources, as appropriate. As part of each intervention the specialist teacher will:
- collect a baseline of data through observations and or assessment.
- plan and deliver sessions working towards appropriate and challenging targets.
- monitor progress and complete a report summarising the pupil’s response to and the effectiveness of the intervention.
If requested and appropriate, the Specialist Teacher may also use evidence based interventions such as Read, Write Inc. or Power of 2, for example, to run alongside programmes of study offered within school. This can also then be modelled to school staff, if required, to enable support to be continued.
