Awarded Fairtrade Borough status in 2010, and last renewed in 2018, we’re a proud supporter of the campaign which ensures farmers and workers from the developing world are treated fairly.
What is Fairtrade?
Fairtrade is a system of certification that aims to ensure a set of standards are met in the production and supply of a product or ingredient. For farmers and workers, Fairtrade means workers’ rights, safer working conditions and fairer pay. For shoppers it means high quality, ethically produced products

Fairtrade Fortnight 2022
For two weeks each year at the end of February and start of March, thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to share the stories of the people who grow our food and drinks, mine our gold and who grow the cotton in our clothes, people who are often exploited and underpaid.
This year’s theme, ‘Choose the World you Want’ encourages generations of all ages to think about the choices we make, how they will impact the planet and shape the future of our world. Particularly important this year is the idea of agency and being mindful of your own actions.
Fairtrade Fortnight 2022 will be a show of solidarity with communities overseas on the frontline of the climate crisis. The climate crisis is the biggest threat to the livelihoods of millions of small-scale farmers and agricultural workers in low-income countries worldwide. Without a fairer income, they are unable to invest in the types of mitigation and adaptation techniques needed to protect the environment, and their businesses.
Solihull Fairtrade Trail
Schools across Solihull have been busy creating handmade sculptures and artwork for this year’s theme of ‘Choose the World you Want’. To coincide with Fairtrade Fortnight, the artwork will be on display from 19 February to 6 March in well-known shops in Solihull Town Centre.
The Solihull Fairtrade Trail features a quiz where you’ll need to visit all of the school’s artwork to reveal the answers! You’ll be able to learn more about Fairtrade Fortnight whilst having a friendly competition with family and friends. Who can complete the questions in the quickest time? Click on the first link below for everything you need to take part. Question sheets will also be available at the CORE during the event. Good luck!
