Solihull Council’s Vulnerable Road User Group is a group of residents and council staff who work together as a ‘critical friend’ to understand issues of safety for our most vulnerable road users, and how to make things safer for them. This involves considering the particular needs of children, older people and people with disabilities when using the borough’s streets and roads.
The group meets at least three times a year and have worked with the council to produce the Solihull Street Charter which helps support good practice across the borough. They also actively influence public realm and highways improvement projects throughout the year.
The group would welcome new members to bring a wider experience and range of views. People with either lived experience of being a vulnerable road user – especially older people and people with disabilities – or who work in a field that could usefully contribute to improving street and highways safety for our residents are welcome to apply to join the group.
If you would like to join the group, please email Rob Wyatt at rwyatt@solihull.gov.uk explaining briefly why you would like to join and what you think you could bring to the group.
