It’s never too late to start learning or keep improving on the things you already know.

Solihull College & University Centre

Adult learning courses cover a wide range of subjects from arts and crafts to lifestyles and healthy eating, photography and IT.

You will usually have to pay for your course but help with costs may be available if you’re eligible for support

Community learning

If you lack confidence in reading, writing or maths community learning courses are available that can help you improve your:

English skills:

  • Grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Spelling
  • Handwriting
  • Writing letters

Basic maths

  • Handling money
  • Banking

Improving your skills in these areas will:

  • Help you get on at work
  • Make you more independent
  • Give you confidence with filling in forms
  • Make it easier to help with your children’s homework
  • Help you to write a CV

STEM-UP - Free courses available

The STEM-UP project has been launched to assist those aged 19+, residing within areas covered by the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP), whether they are an employer, employee, or currently unemployed.

A wide range of training courses and ‘taster’ workshops are available that are free; thereby enabling participants to develop their skills in subjects related to:

  • Science;
  • Technology;
  • Engineering; and
  • Mathematics (STEM).
