Nature of work

The role of the communications team is to promote and protect Solihull Council. A key part of this work is making sure correct, up to date and relevant Council information is made available to the people of Solihull and to Council staff. This is done using a range of communication channels to make information accessible and interesting to different audiences.

Legal Basis for Processing

The Council's general powers contained in S.111 Local Government Act 1972 and S.1 Localism Act 2011.

Why we need your information

We will use your personal information for a limited number of purposes and always in line with our responsibilities, where there is a legal basis, and your rights under Data Protection Legislation.

We will process personal information:

• for the purpose for which you provided the information, e.g. to deliver Stay Connected e-bulletins
• to enable us to communicate with you and provide the services you need or are entitled to
• to monitor our performance in providing services to you and to obtain your opinion about our services

We aim to always keep your information accurate and up to date. You can help us to do this at any time by letting us know if any of the information you have given us, such as your address, changes.

We process a variety of information relating to the above which may include:

• personal details
• visual images (photos or videos)

Who information is processed about

We only process information about customers.

Who information may be shared with

We may need to share some of the personal information we process with groups or organisations for one or more reasons.

Where necessary or required we share information with:

• current, past and prospective employers

How long we will keep your information

We will not keep your information any longer than needed. Any photos or videos that you have given us consent to take and use, will be deleted after two years along with the consent form. For any other information we keep, the length of time will be guided the business need to keep the information and will be stated when we collect the information.
