Bus travel
Get an older person's bus pass
You can get a pass for free bus travel when you reach the State Pension age. You can check when you will qualify on the GOV.UK website.
The pass lets you travel for free during off-peak times:
- between 9:30am and 11:00pm, Monday to Friday
- all day at weekends and on public holidays
You can apply for an older person’s bus pass with Transport for West Midlands.
Get a disabled person's bus pass
If you have a disability, you could be eligible for a disabled person’s pass.
You can apply online with Transport for West Midlands.
National Railcards
With a National Railcard, you can save 1/3 on train travel. There are currently nine railcards available including:

West Midlands Bus on Demand
If you find it difficult to use public transport, West Midlands Bus on Demand provides a door-to-door transport service.
VASA
If you live in south Solihull, you can book a journey with VASA.
VASA’s volunteer drivers can help you travel to:
- medical appointments, such as doctors’ surgeries, hospitals and dentists
- social activities and groups, including brunch clubs or day care sessions
