Civil marriage and partnership venue licence

A venue must hold a valid licence to hold civil marriages and civil partnerships in Solihull.

A grant of approval is needed to host civil weddings and civil partnerships at your venue

You will need to identify a specific room or rooms where civil weddings, or civil partnerships take place. You can include outside space if both of the following apply:

  • you also identify a specific room or rooms inside
  • the outdoor space is within the grounds of the building

How to apply

Applications and renewals to approve your premises as a civil marriage and civil partnership venue, should be made online through the Gov.UK website.

We must be happy that the premises are ‘seemly and dignified’ and that they will be regularly available for civil marriages or civil partnerships.

The premises must also have all the necessary fire and safety provisions required by us.

The approval will be valid for a minimum of 3 years.
