Buying a grave or cremated remains plot
When you buy a grave or cremated remains plot, you are buying an exclusive right of burial grant, not the land itself. This means that you lease the land for a set number of years.
After you have paid the required fee, we will issue the grant of exclusive rights of burial (the deed). The grant will show:
- the name of the purchaser
- the grave number
- how many years the exclusive right of burial is for
Headstones
The exclusive right of burial includes the right to have a memorial installed on the grave.
You can order headstones from a funeral director or stonemason. They will apply for a permit on your behalf. The permit application must meet the cemetery specifications, which are available on request.
A stonemason registered with BRAMM (British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons) must fit the headstone.
