Solihull Supported Housing Strategy and regulation of supported housing

One of the requirements of the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023 is for all local authorities to publish a Supported Housing Strategy by the end of March 2027.

Solihull Council is working with partners to look at the demand in Solihull for supported housing over the next five years to meet local need. The strategy will outline the Council’s approach to ensuring that supported exempt accommodation within the borough is of a high quality, both in terms of the quality of accommodation and the quality of support provided.

We are required under the Act to establish a local licensing scheme. All providers of supported housing will be expected to hold a licence to operate in Solihull once the licensing scheme is established.

We are also committed to publishing quality standards for supported accommodation and a charter of rights for those living in supported accommodation.
