BorrowBox ePress

BorrowBox ePress includes many UK national newspapers, local papers and worldwide titles.

You can read the eNewspapers as if you were reading a physical paper, turning the pages. It includes the entire paper including:

  • sports results
  • adverts 
  • pictures 
  • crosswords

Borrowing eNewspapers via BorrowBox ePress

eNewspapers are available for up to 21 days and will automatically expire at the end of the loan period unless you return them first. 

You can also renew items if they are not requested by other customers. 

If the item is out on loan, you can reserve it and be notified when it becomes available.  

You can borrow the following at any time:

  • 5 eAudiobooks 
  • 5 eBooks
  • 100 eMagazine 
  • 100 eNewspaper titles

Newsbank

If you would like to loan an eNewspaper from Newsbank, you will need to:

  • enter the full number including the SLP for physical library cards
  • enter numbers only for digital cards
  • include the prefix “WP” or “H” before the number for online memberships

Newsbank includes:

  • UK newspapers including:
    • The Telegraph
    • The Times
    • The Sun
  • local papers including:
    • Solihull Observer

You can also search newspaper archives for articles back to the 1980s for national papers and local papers including Birmingham Mail and Solihull News. 

The Financial Times is only available 30 days after the date of publication. It is not possible to view the current Financial Times online through our eNewspaper services. 

British Newspaper Archive

The British Newspaper Archive offers a collection of millions of pages from hundreds of British newspapers from the 1700s to the 1990s. There are local papers from all parts of the country available in full text, and thousands of new pages are being added each week at the British Library. 

National titles include:

  • The Daily Mirror (including Sunday Mirror and Sunday People)
  • The Daily Express
  • Illustrated London News
  • many suffragette titles

The following local titles are available:

  • Solihull News
  • Birmingham Daily Post
  • Birmingham Mail
  • Aris’s Birmingham Gazette
  • Coventry Telegraph 
  • Warwick & Warwickshire Advertiser

The British Newspaper Archive is available for use in Solihull libraries only. You can use your own device only when using the free WIFI available at our libraries.
