Solihull residents who receive Housing Benefit or the Housing Costs element of Universal Credit may be eligible for financial support from the Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) Scheme.
DHP are designed to help residents when their Housing Benefit or Universal Credit does not cover the rent. In addition to making up rent shortfalls, the scheme can also be used to help with a one-off cost, such as covering outstanding rent, a rent deposit or moving costs.
Before making an application to the Discretionary Housing Payment Scheme, residents are advised to refer to the DHP information sheet to check their eligibility.
Councillor Bob Sleigh OBE, Cabinet Member for Resources, said:
“At Solihull Council, it is essential to us that our residents are fully supported when facing financial difficulties and are aware of the help available to them.
“I am pleased that we’re once again offering eligible residents access to Discretionary Housing Payments, to ensure that no one in receipt of Housing Benefit or the Housing Costs element of Universal Credit is left struggling to pay the rent this year.
“I encourage residents to check their eligibility and apply for the scheme as soon as possible.”
To apply, Solihull residents should complete the DHP application form and submit online. If residents require any help with their application or have any further queries, they should contact the Financial Inclusion Team on 0121 704 6202.
