Solihull families can discover the activities, support and services available to them as part of Solihull Council’s Here2Help this summer campaign.
The campaign offers a helping-hand during the long school summer holiday period, which can be challenging for families.
There are a wealth of fun, free activities this summer at Best Start Family Hubs across the borough. From circus skills, fun fairs, and movies to animal shows, science workshops, and treasure hunts, there are dozens of fantastic events.
The Hubs are also safe spaces for parents and children to spend time, seek advice, and engage with local activities and groups. The latest activities for each Hub can be found on the timetables on the Hubs and activities website page.
Funding for meal vouchers was provided earlier this month to all eligible families via the Crisis and Resilience Fund (formally Household Support Fund). This can also be accessed for instances of genuine need and at times of sudden crisis to help with energy, water, heating, cooking, and essential food costs.
Borough-wide, the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme commences on Saturday 18 July for children and young people from reception to year 11. With over 40 providers, across nearly 80 venues, it will deliver an extensive range of fun activities for families eligible for benefits related free school meals.
Further holiday activities and schemes are accessible including Short Breaks and specialist sessions for children with SEND, the annual reading challenge across Solihull libraries, plus Ofsted holiday childcare and days out across Solihull and the wider region.
There’s also an action-packed programme of exciting things to do in Solihull town centre this summer. Visit summer fun in Solihull town centre to find out more.
Councillor Karen Grinsell, Leader of Solihull Council and Cabinet Member for Children & Education, said:
“We want every Solihull family to feel supported, connected and confident over the summer months, which is why we have launched Here2Help this summer.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer a range of family support, from financial help through the CRF, support and events at our Family Hubs, or access to fun activities through the HAF programme and a number of other benefits.
“It’s important for families to know what’s available so they can take full advantage during what we know can be a challenging time, and we remain committed to making sure families have the right help at the right time, all year round."
