Apprenticeship opportunities on display at the Solihull Apprenticeship Show

Young people will have the chance to learn about apprenticeship opportunities when the Solihull Apprenticeship Show returns next month.

Following the hugely successful event last October, which attracted nearly 2,000 visitors, February’s free event will take place in the north of the borough, at North Solihull Sports Centre.

Anyone aged 15 - 18 who wishes to find out more about apprenticeships are encouraged to come along on Wednesday 8 February from 4pm until 7.30pm.

The event showcases apprenticeships as an alternative career route to university, with opportunities up to degree level and attendees will have the chance to speak to employers and training providers from a range of sectors such as manufacturing, construction, logistics, finance and health care.

Exhibitors include Rolls Royce, NEC Group and Hilton. Current apprentices will also be there to share their experiences for visitors to get a better understanding and insight into apprenticeships.

Organised by Solihull Council, the Apprenticeship Show is part of the Solihull Careers Hub, working with schools and colleges to help young people find their best next step.

Solihull Council’s Employment & Skills Team will be on hand to offer support to residents considering an apprenticeship such as tips on how to make a strong application.

Councillor Karen Grinsell, Deputy Leader of Solihull Council, said: “We anticipate that more residents will consider apprenticeships which offer the opportunity for you to earn as you learn, easing the transition from school to work, and cutting down living costs. We encourage pupils currently in Years 10 to 13 to come along with their parents/carers to find out more.”

The event is free to attend and there is no need to book; however, to make the registration process quicker on the day you can pre-register by completing the short online form: Solihull Apprenticeship Show February 2023 Registration Form.

Free parking is available on site: North Solihull Sports Centre, Conway Road, Fordbridge, B37 5LA.
