Arden Cross perfect place for an “Investment Zone”

Released:

Following the Chancellor's announcement of the Government’s Growth Plan and the intention to set up Investment Zones to drive growth across the country, the Leader of Solihull Council, Councillor Ian Courts, has suggested Arden Cross as the “perfect place” for such a Zone.

Cllr Ian Courts, continued:

“I welcome the Government’s new Investment Zone policy and the Arden Cross site is perfect for this. This site and the adjacent Hub area in Solihull has fantastic potential to deliver the economic growth, create jobs and provide new homes we need.  There is a masterplan for the area and I’m confident this would provide the best return on investment for Solihull, the region and the UK.

“Since plans for this area were first conceived by the Council, I have consistently said that we must make the most efficient use of the land around the new HS2 station, deliver excellence in design and the necessary green infrastructure, as well as creating jobs and the homes we are constantly under pressure to build.

“The efficient development of this site will also help relieve the pressure on other areas of our green belt in Solihull.  Making Arden Cross an Investment Zone could speed up and enhance our vision for this site.

“HS2 is an enormous project and we are determined to achieve the maximum benefits for the area and our local people. This is the best connected place in the UK. We are a borough that prides itself as the best place to live, work and spend leisure time; this project could build on our outstanding reputation for sustainable economic growth, investment and innovation.

“I will be promoting Arden Cross strongly through the West Midlands Combined Authority to request this site be considered as part of any Expression of Interest.”
