Council hosted Job Fair brings big employers to town

Released:

Solihull Council is today hosting a Job Fair, bringing jobseekers face to face with potential employers – for some maybe a first since lockdown.

A wide variety of roles will be advertised and around 20 employers are attending the event, which is organised by Jobcentre Plus.

The event is free to attend for jobseekers aged 16+, who should book a place through their work coach.

Employers include Solihull Council itself, West Midlands Police, Birmingham Airport and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, along with many other employers - local and national, large and small, public and private sector.

The Council’s Employment & Skills Team will be on hand to talk about how they can help local people and give information about their services.

Solihull Council Leader Councillor Ian Courts said he was delighted people would have the chance to find first-hand career advice and potentially paid work.

He said: “I would say to local jobseekers, do go along and see what’s out there - maybe even discover opportunities in sectors you’ve never considered before.

“Boosting local people’s skills and helping them access good work is a huge priority for the Council and we’re always keen to support other organisations in that effort too.”

The Job Fair takes place today, Thursday 17 February 2022, from 10:00am to 3:00pm in the Civic Suite, Homer Rd, Solihull B91 9SE.

The Employment & Skills Team can help with future job opportunities and help to match individuals’ skills to local vacancies.
