Marking two years since the first Covid vaccine delivered

Released:

Today marks the second anniversary of the first Covid vaccination being administered at UHCW.

Cllr Grinsell, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member with responsibility for Partnerships and Well-being, comments: “In December 2020 we were looking at a very different festive season to previous years, and the vaccine was instrumental in us gradually returning to some form of normality.

“Nearly 450,000 doses have been administered in Solihull since then, including the covid boosters for this winter.

“It’s so important that anyone who is eligible for a booster gets one – you can pop along to the vaccine van in Mell Square on Thursday 15 December, 9:30am-3:30pm.

“Alternatively, walk-in Covid vaccination clinics are available at locations across Birmingham and Solihull: https://www.birminghamandsolihullvaccination.nhs.uk/walk-in/ New dates and locations are often added, so do check this page regularly. Some of the locations listed will also administer first and second Covid vaccinations for young people, aged 12-16.

“This winter If you’re also eligible for a flu jab, don’t forget to get yours! Flu doesn’t just affect older people — it can be serious, especially if you have a long-term health condition or a weakened immune system.”
