More libraries reopening next week

Released:

Following the success of the ‘Grab and Go’ and ‘Click and Collect’ services at Solihull libraries last month, two more libraries will reopen next week.

Meriden Library will offer a ‘Click and Collect’ service which means that customers can place an order online via the council’s website. The online form will be available from Monday 19 October. Books will be available for collection at 10am – 12 noon on Wednesdays, starting from Wednesday 28 October. Anyone unable to use the online form can place an order by phoning 0121 704 8001.

Dickens Heath Library will be open every Thursday from 10am to 1pm starting from Thursday 22 October for a ‘Grab and Go’ service. This means that customers can browse stock for up to 30 minutes but as there is limited space for social distancing there aren’t any areas for reading. Customers can also use the PCs for up to 45 minutes but booking in advance is advisable by calling on 0121 744 6078.

The ‘Grab and Go’ service, as outlined for Dickens Heath Library, is also operating at:

  • The Core Library
  • Balsall Common
  • Castle Bromwich (currently shut because of staff shortages but due to reopen at 10am on Saturday 24 October)
  • Chelmsley Wood
  • Hobs Moat
  • Knowle

Shirley Library is operating a ’Click and Collect’ service as outlined for Meriden Library.

Olton Library is currently closed for refurbishment. This was scheduled to finish at the end of October but has been delayed because of Covid-19 and is now scheduled to finish at the end of November.

The three remaining community libraries are too small to enable current social distancing.
