New Community Testing Hub for Chelmsley Wood

Released:

Solihull Council is opening a second COVID-19 Community Testing Hub in Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre, next to the bus interchange.

This follows the successful launch of its first hub in Solihull town centre earlier this month.

The Chelmsley Wood Hub opens on Saturday 29 May and like its counterpart will be open seven days a week with the following opening hours:

Saturday - 9:30am-4:30pm

Sunday - 10:00-3:30pm

Mon-Fri - 9:30am-4:30pm

The Hubs allow residents to get rapid, COVID tests, either by taking one there and then (under 18’s will need a parent or guardian with them) or by collecting a supply of tests to do at home.

This walk-in service is for people without COVID symptoms. No appointment is required - simply turn up during opening hours and speak to a member of staff who can guide you through the testing process.

If you have any symptoms, you MUST book a PCR test here instead.

The Council will be visiting local retailers over the weekend to discuss our testing offer, encouraging staff and customers to visit the Hub and test regularly.

If you need to contact either of the Hubs for a test result or general test enquiries, please phone 07554 225531 (line open during the above opening hours).

Remember to wear a face covering (unless exempt) and maintain social distancing when entering the Hub. You may have to queue, so please follow the signs of where to do this.

For all the latest testing information and to find out where else you can get tests please visit the Council website.

Ruth Tennant, Solihull’s Director of Public Health said:

“It’s great that we can now offer a convenient testing hub for people in the north of the borough. Having a hub here should mean people can make testing a part of their everyday routine, even if they have had one or more doses of the vaccine.

“Let’s keep doing the right thing for Solihull, so we can cautiously begin to enjoy more freedoms over the months ahead, by continuing to follow Public Health advice and by adding ‘getting a test’ to our shopping list!

“Remember if you have COVID symptoms please self-isolate immediately for 10 days and you must book a PCR test through the national booking system or by calling 119. If you need emotional, practical or financial support to help you self-isolate there is an array of support available to you, please check our Here2Help pages or call 0121 704 6793.”
