Queen’s Baton Relay – Hampton in Arden Community Event Preview

Released:

Ahead of The Queen’s Baton Relay visiting Solihull on Tuesday 26 July, we will be previewing what’s on offer at the many community events taking place that day to celebrate the relay. Beginning, naturally, in the middle, with the large community celebration at Hampton in Arden Sports Club.

Hampton is where the Queen’s Baton will stop for lunch. We hope it will be hungry as local food companies have been invited to cater the event, so there’s sure to be an excellent selection on offer. There’ll be plenty of opportunities for anyone attending to work up an appetite, as there will be a wide variety of sporting activity on offer.

The club will be running taster sessions and friendly games of Hockey, Squash, Rugby, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, and Table Tennis. There will also be a demonstration of Rugby 7s and information on how to get involved. Tennis, Boules and Racketball will all be making an appearance too.

The club will also be hosting a display on the history of sport in the area, and exhibiting artwork from local schools which features sporting themes and the flags of Commonwealth nations.

There will also be a stage and big screen to show coverage of the baton approaching and leaving the event, before some live music performances in the afternoon. The event will get underway at 10am and finish at 6pm, so there’s a full day of fun on offer for all the family.

The Queen’s Baton will be arriving on site around 1pm and will depart just after 2pm.
