Shirley Restaurant Closed Over COVID Rule Breaches

Released:

On 18 of January 2021, Shirley Spice restaurant at Stratford Road in Shirley, Solihull was served a Direction to close by Solihull Council using its Powers, under the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (No. 3) Regulations 2020.

This follows a number of serious breaches of COVID safety legislation.

The owner had served alcohol to customers waiting for food, despite this being prohibited by law. The owner also failed to produce the required written COVID safety assessment when requested.

The Direction will mean the Shirley Spice restaurant will not be allowed to open until the owner can demonstrate to the Council that satisfactory COVID compliant arrangements are in place.

Solihull Council and the local Police take breaches of the COVID law and guidance very seriously. We will continue to monitor the situation in the borough and will not hesitate to take any necessary action to maintain public health and ensure the safety of residents.
