Solihull Catering Services launches new website

Released:

Solihull Catering Services – part of Solihull Council - has launched a new website promoting award-winning meals for primary school pupils.

Catering for pupils in 70 primary schools across Solihull and surrounding areas, Solihull Catering Services has a wealth of experience providing nutritious, wholesome school lunches.

The new website provides all the information parents and schools need all in one place, including downloadable menus, allergy information, current news, local suppliers, reviews and FAQs.

With two seasonal menus a year, running a three-week rotation, pupils are offered a range of fresh, tasty and healthy meals, using locally sourced and high-quality ingredients.  Solihull Catering Services has been awarded the Food for Life Catering Mark by the Soil Association - an independent endorsement of food that is healthy, freshly prepared and sustainably sourced.

Pupils are given a wide choice of options, recognising the changing tastes of children and the ethical and cultural requirements in schools today.  A daily choice of two main courses, including a vegetarian option and a dessert, salad bar, fruit and home baked bread cost just £2.70.

Schools can complete a simple online enquiry form to find out more about the service.  Every school kitchen is assisted by the operational and business support teams to provide a consistent high-quality service.

Parents who would like their child to enjoy freshly prepared school meals from Solihull Catering Services can purchase a meal through their school if they are signed up. Details of the schools that use the service are on the website.

Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Resources, Cllr Bob Sleigh OBE, said: “Our catering team is passionate about providing fresh, seasonal and nutritious meals for pupils.  Parents and schools can be reassured that children are getting the very best at lunchtime as our close working relationships with public health influence the decisions we make for school meals.

“I encourage people to take a look at the website and see what Solihull Catering Services can offer.  We would love to welcome more schools on board.”

Headteacher at Streetsbrook Infant and Early Years Academy, Louise Minter, added: “School meals are such an important part of our school day.  Providing pupils with a hot, nutritious and tasty meal at lunchtime fuels them for the rest of the day and helps them to thrive.

“It's great to see the pupils excited and enjoy their lunch each day and we value the support provided by the catering team.  We would certainly recommend Solihull Catering Services to schools and parents alike.”
