Solihull Council launches new fostering campaign

Solihull Council has launched an online campaign to recruit more foster carers from across the region.

The ‘Foster for Solihull’ campaign aims to encourage people to consider becoming a foster carer and provide children with a loving home and a sense of belonging.

The campaign focuses on the 24/7 support for foster carers, as well as the opportunity to join a community of like-minded people.

Foster for Solihull prides itself on the wealth of support and resources for its fostering families. It’s a combination of 24/7 access to an experienced fostering team, as well as local training that’s exclusive to the borough.

Councillor Michael Gough, Cabinet Member for Children and Education, is keen to invite new carers to the fostering community in Solihull. He says: “We believe that all of Solihull’s children should grow up with a sense of belonging. A foster carer’s role is to help a child grow up feeling safe, supported and part of a family. We know this is a life changing decision that makes an incredible difference to a child’s life, and that’s why we are there to support our carers together, every step of the way.”

Solihull Council welcomes people from all walks of life, including those with or without children, single applicants and those in employment. People can live across the West Midlands, not just in Solihull. Please find out more by visiting the Foster for Solihull website: https://www.fosterforsolihull.co.uk

Councillor Gough added: “Our new website is designed to be intuitive and easy to understand for anyone who’d like to find out more about fostering. From information about different types of foster care, to real-life care stories, there’s a wealth of resources for people to read or give one of our friendly Fostering team members a call.”

The website also contains details about future fostering information evenings and a call-back option to speak directly to a member of the Fostering team. Alternatively, people can call 0121 788 4474 or email fosteringrecruitment@solihull.gov.uk
