Residents, businesses and visitors across Solihull are invited to share their views on Solihull Council’s draft Air Quality Strategy.
The strategy outlines the actions that will be delivered between 2024 and 2028 to further improve air quality across the borough, making Solihull a great place to live, work and visit.
Clean air is one of the most basic requirements for us all. It is essential for our good health and wellbeing, and for the natural environment.
Air pollution is the top environmental risk to human health in the UK, and the fourth greatest threat to public health after cancer, heart disease and obesity.
Poor air quality shortens lives and reduces quality of life, particularly amongst the most vulnerable, the young and old, and those living with health conditions.
That's why Solihull Council is refreshing its Air Quality Strategy.
The draft strategy has been developed by the Public Health team, and includes details on the steps needed to improve air quality across Solihull.
An 8-week consultation survey on the draft strategy is now available to complete on the Council’s engagement platform “Your Voice Solihull”, and will be open for submissions until Friday 9 February 2024.

Councillor Andy Mackiewicz, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and Planning, said: “Our draft Air Quality Strategy sets out our ambition to further improve air quality across the borough.
“C02 emissions have fallen in recent years, and we are committed to continuing down this path over the coming years.
“We are keen to further develop our EV charging programme, among other environmentally friendly projects that are underway.
“I believe the actions and ambitions set out in the draft Strategy provide a fantastic and realistic roadmap for further improvements in air quality over the coming years.
“We all have a part to play in improving air quality, and I would encourage all Solihull residents to let us know your thoughts by completing our short survey.”
