Solihull Local Plan – Update 17 March 2023

Released:

The Council has responded to the Inspectors’ latest letter and has accepted that the examination of the Solihull Local Plan should be paused to enable the finalised version of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) to be published. This is expected in the spring. This will enable the examination to take into account the significant changes to the NPPF, and it is anticipated that the Inspectors will set out how they intend to do this once it is published.

Councillor Mackiewicz (Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Climate Change, Planning and Housing) said:

“It is important that the Local Plan examination is given an opportunity to take into account the latest Government planning reforms that are expected to the NPPF. Whilst the Council acknowledges that this will add a delay to getting the plan adopted, it is more important to ensure that it is the right plan for our borough.”
