This week, Solihull Observatory are officially launching a new Solihull Area and Ward Profiles dashboard on the Council website. This dashboard is a useful tool for Solihull residents and businesses to explore the facts and figures that make-up the borough.
The interactive dashboard, powered by Microsoft Power BI, was designed by Solihull Observatory to help everyone who uses it to better understand different corners of the borough through evidence and statistics.
Different pages offer a different view of Solihull, including presenting the statistics on population density, age, occupation and health by ward area. Users are able to select different wards and compare the various demographics to see how they differ from the average.
Solihull is a large and diverse economic powerhouse in the West Midlands, and it is important to pay close attention to what makes it tick. Using data from the Solihull Council ‘Place Survey’ conducted in 2022 and 2025 that had a total of nearly 1,500 responses, the dashboard also presents data on public perception.
Cllr Bob Sleigh OBE, the Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Resources at the council, said:
“Solihull Observatory have produced an excellent piece of work with this dashboard. Having clear and legible access to this data will allow us here at the council to stay in touch with the changing population of our borough, and make sure services are designed to best support those who use them.
“The public and public researchers will now also be able to easily view data that was previously only available on request. This interactive dashboard is good for the health and wellbeing of Solihull residents and our local democracy.”
