Solihull staff shortlisted for Housing Heroes Awards

Released:

Solihull Council’s housing provider - Solihull Community Housing (SCH) - has been shortlisted in two categories in one of the UK’s leading housing awards – Housing Heroes.

SCH has been shortlisted in the ‘Team of the Year’ category for its work on the sprinkler installation programme across all 37 high rise blocks managed by SCH. This major investment in building safety has taken more than two years to complete with strong resident engagement at the heart of it.

Alongside the team’s work, apprentice Leigh Mundy has been shortlisted for an ‘Outstanding Achievement by an Apprentice Award’ after impressing her colleagues with successfully working on different areas and taking on a variety of different jobs with the utmost enthusiasm.

Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Mark Parker, said: “Last week Cllr Ian Courts explained why he has created a new cabinet role focused entirely on housing and why housing is so important to the country and to our borough. Supporting our tenants and providing safe homes for our residents is a key part of that – so I am really pleased that SCH staff have been shortlisted in these categories. Congratulations and good luck at the awards!”

SCH Chief Executive, Fiona Hughes added: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in two categories for Housing Heroes. This is recognition of the hard work and dedication displayed by our staff, and the commitment to improve the quality of our tenants’ homes and community.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Manchester on 26 June, held in conjunction with Housing 2023, Europe’s largest housing conference. The awards celebrate and recognise achievements in the housing sector, from apprentice to tenant to chief executive.
