Solihull to transfer local land charge search

Released:

Following months of work with HM Land Registry (HMLR), Solihull Council will be migrating the local land charges service to HMLR’s central digital register from 25 April 2022.

As part of the transfer of data to the national register, searches will unfortunately be unavailable from 3 April until 25 April.  Local solicitors, land agents, estate agents and other stakeholders have been informed of this break in service so they can plan purchases around this period.

Most local land charges are restrictions or prohibitions on the use of property or land, such as planning permissions or listed building status. A search of the national register will reveal whether a property is subject to a charge. This will enable the buyer to make an informed decision about the purchase.

When the transfer is complete, HMLR will provide search results for local land charges in Solihull borough from the national register.

Residents will be able to access the new digital service through the Portal, Business Gateway and on HM Land Registry’s GOV.UK pages.

The LLC Register allows users to search information online instantly, enabling buying decisions to be made earlier in the conveyancing process.

Solihull Council will continue to provide replies to more detailed land charge requests (most notably CON29 enquiries).  It is important to remember to only submit the required fee when submitting a CON29 enquiry to us after 3 April 2022. Details of these can be found on our website - Local land charge searches (solihull.gov.uk)
