Views sought on proposed changes to polling arrangements in Solihull

Released:

Some changes to where Solihull residents can vote in future elections have been proposed following an initial consultation.

Residents can now provide feedback on the proposals as part of a final consultation which takes place for six weeks from Monday 2 June until Monday 14 July.

Solihull Council is reviewing all polling districts and places used at elections in the borough, as is required under the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013.

Polling districts are areas within an electoral ward or parliamentary constituency, while polling places are where polling stations are located.

Proposals retain the majority of existing polling districts and places, whilst causing minimum disruption to voters and only making changes if they are necessary. A summary of changes can be found on www.solihull.gov.uk/pollingreview.

This stage of the review process considers proposed polling arrangements against the new Solihull ward boundaries, which were announced by the Local Government Boundary Commission in March 2025.

It aims to ensure electors have reasonable and practical facilities for voting and that polling places are accessible to all. The changing of any ward or parish council boundary is not considered in this review.

The review is an opportunity for electors, groups and any other interested parties in Solihull to express their views on the proposals.

A paper consultation can be requested by email to electoralservices@solihull.gov.uk or by post to Electoral Services, Council House, Manor Square Solihull B91 3QB. Paper copies can also be requested from staff at Solihull libraries, or downloaded from www.solihull.gov.uk/pollingreview.

Any changes will be implemented for the next local elections in Solihull, which is currently scheduled in May 2026.
