Solihull town centre’s parks can be accessed in Minecraft and enjoyed from anywhere in the world – at any time of the day or night – in a safe and vibrant online environment.
The project to create the borough’s first ‘digital parks’ is part of Solihull Council’s commitment to improving accessibility and inclusivity in parks and open spaces. It has been designed by young adults with learning disabilities at Newlands Bishop Farm, and commissioned by the Council.
To get online, all you need is a stable internet connection and access to Minecraft via a PC, Mac, mobile or console. You can find further details below.
Once you’re in, there’s plenty to do. You can:
- take part in the guided scavenger hunt, solve all the clues, and get a key to the winner’s treasure chest - you’ll find the start of the treasure hunt at the Malvern Park gates (coordinates are 2050, 100, 2090)
- discover over 50 characters that populate the park and uncover lots of secrets - can you find five wandering animals and uncover their names?
Public access
We want players to feel safe and secure within our server, so we’ve turned off chat and other communication functions.
The parks are protected so you will not be able to build on or change what is there.
To access the parks, follow the steps below.

School access
Solihull primary schools have an exciting opportunity to apply for creative access to the Minecraft parks.
Creative access gives children the chance to edit the parks and build on what is already there.
Schools could use this as a learning tool to develop a lesson. For example:
- what would children want to see in parks?
- how will our parks of the future look?
There are different ways to access the parks.
We are a school and already have a Minecraft licence
You can access the parks on PC/Mac by following the steps above. To request creative access, email smbc@familycaretrust.co.uk with details of how your school would like to use it. Schools must have a ‘Standard edition’ licence of Minecraft to be able to edit the parks.
We are a school and do not have a Minecraft licence
If your school has not got a Minecraft licence, please contact smbc@familycaretrust.co.uk to express support in obtaining one.
Pupils have access to Minecraft at home
If children already have Minecraft at home, they can explore the parks on their PC/Mac, mobile or consoles using the steps above. The parks are protected so they will not be able to build on or change what is there.
