Park and Stride

Mix of adult and child characters on a drawn background of a school with the strapline 'Little steps, big difference'

Walking to school shouldn’t feel like a chore, it can be a chance to chat, laugh and enjoy a healthier start to the morning. Solihull’s Park and Stride scheme makes it easy for families to build activity into their day by walking just part of the journey.

Whether you set off from home or park a short distance from the school in one of our designated meeting spots, Park and Stride helps you enjoy a calmer, cleaner and more active route to school.

Why Park and Stride?

Boost your wellbeing

A short walk in the morning gives children a natural energy lift, helping them feel more alert and ready to learn. Just 500 metres walked to and from school adds up to 5km a week, a simple change with a big impact.

Cleaner air for everyone

Did you know that sitting in traffic can expose you to more pollution than walking beside a busy road?

By reducing car congestion, Park and Stride helps improve local air quality around school gates for the whole community.

Learn vital road safety skills

Walking together gives children the chance to practise road safety with your guidance. These early lessons build confidence and independence as they grow.
