Our frequently asked questions can help you use and understand our booking system for Bickenhill House Waste Recycling Centre.

Why do you have a booking system?

We have a booking system in place, to help the traffic flow in and around the area and to prevent queues on site and on the local highway network.

Can I book an appointment and visit the HWRC on the same day?

Yes, subject to available appointments, you can book and visit on the same day if you are in a car or a vehicle that does not require a permit to use the site.

If you have a permitted vehicle or a hire vehicle, you will need to book a minimum of 48 hours in advance. For example, if you want to visit the site on Wednesday – the latest you can book your appointment is on the Monday of the same week.

The delay is currently necessary to allow us to conduct checks that are required with permit bookings.

How often can I book?

We are limiting visits to five per household per week. This is to try to make sure that every household that needs to use this service can book a slot.

I am moving house, can I have more than one appointment in a week?

Yes, you can book five appointments in a week. The week runs from Monday to Sunday

Each time I try to book there is no availability?

It may be difficult to book a slot as there is high demand for appointments. New slots will be released regularly, so check back to the booking page regularly.

How long are the appointments?

Each appointment is for 15 minutes.

I've booked an appointment, but now I cannot make it, can I change it?

If you have booked via the website, then you will be able to amend your booking through the email notification that you have received. You will be able to change the time and date of booking as well as vehicle registration. 

Can I cancel my appointment?

If you have booked via the website, then you can cancel your booking through the email notification that you have received. You can cancel your booking up to 24 hours before your appointment.

I don't have access to the internet - can I still book an appointment?

Yes, appointments can still be booked by calling us on 0121 704 8000.

I want to hire a van but the website doesn't allow me to book an appointment?

For hired vehicles to be booked into the site, please contact us on 0121 704 8000.

I don't have a smartphone or printer to verify my booking - what can I do?

Please note your booking reference and time and date of your booking and take this with you

Do I need to take proof of residency?

Please bring along proof of residency, this could be a utility bill or any other bill with your address on it. This does not need to be a paper copy we can view electronic copies on a smartphone or tablet.

I would like to book an appointment for a relative or friend?

To book an appointment for a relative or friend, you will need to create a booking appointment in their name and address. Where possible, please use a separate email address as well.
