Autonomous Vehicles
Funded by the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership, we became the first local authority in the country to purchase our own fully electric autonomous shuttle in 2021. Since then we’ve been embarking on a series of ground-breaking passenger trials, at busy Solihull locations such as the NEC and Birmingham Airport.
These successful real world trials are helping to provide us with further knowledge and experience of self-driving vehicles, and a better understanding of how they could be integrated into the borough’s transport network in the future.
