Solihull Climate Change Action Plan 2026 - 2030

Solihull faces climate challenges including:

  • rising temperatures
  • increased flooding
  • biodiversity loss 

Our Climate Change Action Plan explains what needs to happen in Solihull to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for the impacts of climate change. It sets out the actions the Council will take between 2026 and 2030 to make the borough cleaner, greener and more resilient.

The plan replaces the Solihull Net Zero Action Plan (NZAP).

What does the plan aim to achieve?

The plan's aims are to improve everyday life for residents by creating:

  • warmer homes 
  • cleaner air 
  • better transport options
  • more green spaces 
  • stronger protection during extreme weather 

It also aims to support local jobs, help reduce energy bills and ensure that everyone, especially those who need the most support, can benefit from a safer, healthier future.

The plan focuses on two priorities: 

  • climate mitigation: cutting greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors through improved energy efficiency and increasing use of renewable energy 
  • climate adaptation: preparing our communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems for climate risks
