Planning has an important role to play in tackling climate change and promoting sustainable development. If the growth of towns and cities are underpinned by sustainable planning policy, it can reduce their vulnerability to climate risks for years to come.
Solihull’s key planning policy, the Local Plan, is all about shaping a sustainable future for the borough. Setting out the long term vision for Solihull, the plan focuses on delivering sustainable development and growth, and reflects on national and local targets for reducing carbon emissions.
We’re in the process of adopting a new Local Plan, which is currently under review. We’re taking this opportunity to ensure the plan captures our aspirations around the climate change agenda and how we can make tangible process towards our 2041 net zero target.
