Search, renew and reserve library books and other resources online

You can search our library catalogue for items held by all Solihull libraries. This includes books, audiobooks, language courses, CDs, DVDs and a wide range of eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines.

You can also check what loans you have and reserve items through the My Account section of the catalogue.

Renewal

You can renew items by:

To access your account you will need your library membership card (which contains your borrower number) and your PIN. If you hold a library membership card but don't know your PIN number, please email libraries@solihull.gov.uk

The help section Use My Account has specific instructions on renewing items.

Items may not be renewed online  where they are more than 3 days overdue. If your items are overdue please contact your nearest library, the renewal number above or email libraries@solihull.gov.uk.

You may not be able to renew items if they have been reserved by another customer. You can renew your items online 3 times before you are required to bring them in to the library.

Reserving items

Library members can reserve any items from the library catalogue either online or in person, for pick-up from a Solihull library.

Members will then be notified by email once a reserved item becomes available for collection.

This service is free of charge, and you can reserve up to 10 items at a time.

If people decide that they no longer wish to borrow an item, it is important that they cancel their reservation so that other people can borrow them.

When placing a reservation, please do make sure your email address is correct in your borrower record.

Click and Collect

If you are looking for staff to make a selection for you, our Click and Collect service launched during lockdown is continuing.

Overdue items

During the first lockdown Solihull Libraries took the decision to remove fines for overdue items and earlier this year library fines were permanently removed.

It is still important that library members return overdue library items to their local libraries so that stock can be made available for other residents.

Please remember to:

  • return items to the library on or before their due date to allow them to be borrowed by other library users
  • renew your items online, by phone or in person at your local branch
  • return overdue items once you receive an overdue notice. If you can’t then please contact a member of library staff to discuss
  • provide or add your email address to your account. You will get reminders before your loans are due back as well as prompts after, should you not return them

Replacement Costs

You will be asked to pay a replacement charge if an item has been lost or damaged. This cost will be calculated as the published retail recommended price from our stock supplier which is displayed on the library management system and which is shown on all customer accounts.

For more information on this go to the No Library Fines page.

Charges can be paid at any Solihull library by cash or cheque.
