Hazardous household waste disposal permit

If you live in Solihull you can apply to safely dispose of hazardous household waste at Bickenhill Household Waste Recycling Centre. You will need to book an appointment to visit the HWRC.

You can apply for a permit by calling 0121 704 8000

We will need your vehicle registration number.

Permits are issued by post, please leave up to 10 working days to receive the permit.

Once you have received your permit you will be able to book an appointment.

Appointments are available on a first come, first served basis. Each appointment slot will be for 15 minutes.

Please pre-sort recycling and waste at home for a quick turnaround time and to help the site remain on schedule.

When you visit Bickenhill HWRC you will be required to put your hazardous waste into a box with your permit.

Hazardous waste we accept

  • Household chemicals, e.g. battery acid, phosphoric acid, anti freeze
  • Garden chemicals, e.g. pesticides, herbicides, plant feeds
  • Petrol
  • Powdered or solid chemicals e.g. lawn feeds, weed killers etc

Your permit will have a limit of five items per household.

Items must be no more than 5 litres and 5 kilograms in size in total.

Hazardous waste we don't accept

  • Commercial or trade waste

Safe storage of hazardous chemicals

Chemicals and hazardous materials should be kept in their original containers. Store in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.

Do not pour hazardous household waste down the sink, drain or toilet and never mix chemicals.
