Make a nomination

You can nominate a deserving person or organisation against eight award categories.

Individual awards

The Good Neighbour Award

This award recognises individuals who make their neighbourhood a better place to live. This could be through ongoing dedication or a single act of kindness.

Eligibility criteria

Your nomination must:

  • be a Solihull resident
  • demonstrates kindness and selflessness
  • have made a noticeable difference to the lives of neighbours and the community through ongoing examples of support
  • create or encourage a sense of belonging within the neighbourhood where people feel safe and valued

The Volunteer Contribution Award (all age)

The Volunteer Contribution Award (all age) recognises individuals who have made a significant and positive difference through their volunteering. 

We want to celebrate the dedication, commitment, and meaningful contributions that have improved communities, organisations, or causes. 

Eligibility criteria

Your nomination must:

  • be a resident of Solihull or volunteer within the borough
  • demonstrate a significant and positive impact of their volunteer work
  • show a regular commitment to helping others
  • show ongoing involvement and be a dependable presence within their community or project over a sustained period
  • be regarded as an important part of a project or organisation

The Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) Organisational Leadership Award

This award recognises outstanding leadership or management within the VCFSE sector.

It celebrates leaders who have demonstrated exceptional vision, governance, and commitment to strengthening their organisation and the wider community. 

Eligibility criteria

Your nomination must:

  • be based in Solihull
  • examples of leadership include demonstrating strong governance, planning and decision making
  • show clear examples of initiatives that have had local impact
  • include local testimonials that are supported by feedback from colleagues or beneficiaries
  • have introduced successful solutions to local challenges
  • demonstrate examples of collaborative partnerships to strengthen the sector

Group or organisational award

The Small Community or Charity Group of the Year Award

The Small Community or Charity Group of the Year Award celebrates local community groups and local charities that have made a significant impact within their communities. 

It recognises groups that have made a meaningful change and shown a commitment to improving the lives of others,  through:

  • social support
  • representation
  • environmental initiatives
  • community engagement

Eligibility criteria

Your nomination must:

  • be based in Solihull
  • have an annual turnover below £100,000
  • work on a small scale with limited resources
  • be able to show evidence of positive change for the community
  • provide examples of creative approaches to address local priorities
  • collaborates with other groups or services to improve delivery
  • build and inspire pride within the local area and community
  • demonstrate measurable impact within the local community over the past 12 months

The Health and Wellbeing Award

The Health and Wellbeing Award recognises groups or organisations that have made outstanding contributions to improving physical or mental health within their communities. 

This could be through dedication to promoting well-being initiatives such as:

  • healthcare support
  • improved mental health
  • increased physical activity
  • holistic wellness projects

Eligibility criteria

Your nomination must:

  • work within Solihull
  • promote delivery of activities or /services that support physical and emotional well-being for individuals and communities
  • provide clear examples of improved physical or mental health e.g. reduced isolation, increased physical activity
  • have contributed to reducing health inequalities in the local area
  • involve local people and communities in the delivery and development of activities
  • demonstrate effective collaboration with health, social care, and NHS partners to improve community health and wellbeing

The Breaking Down Barriers Award

The Breaking Down Barriers for Organisations Awards honours local charities, groups and organisations that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to inclusivity and removing obstacles to equal access and participation. 

This could be through:

  • community engagement
  • innovative programmes
  • enabling a positive change to workplace policies

Eligibility criteria

Your nomination must:

  • be based in Solihull
  • provide examples of clear actions to remove barriers for underrepresented or marginalised groups
  • be an organisation that reflects the diversity of the groups they are supporting
  • show clear examples of co-production in shaping services
  • show clear examples of the outcome of their work with the local community
  • demonstrate examples of collaborative partnerships
  • have clear examples of accessibility and inclusivity within your nomination

The Community Parenting Award

This award celebrates organisations that go above and beyond to support care-experienced children and young people, including those:

  • in foster care
  • care leavers
  • engaged through mentoring programmes or long-term support initiatives

Nominees for this award may include:

  • charities
  • community groups
  • education providers
  • service-led organisations

That deliver nurturing environments, consistent guidance, and inclusive opportunities for care-experienced young people. 

Eligibility criteria

Your nomination must:

  • be based in Solihull
  • provide exceptional care with clear examples of going above and beyond
  • demonstrate clear examples of their impact on the lives of the young person they've supported
  • have demonstrated dedicated involvement over time
  • act as a role model or mentor to others

Individual or group/organisational award

The Community Innovation Award

This award recognises individuals, groups, or organisations that have introduced new ideas, demonstrating a creative and forward-thinking approaches to address community needs or challenges. 

This may include:

  • social media
  • online safety
  • arts
  • sports
  • podcasts
  • digital
  • physical activity
  • sustainability

Eligibility criteria

Your nomination must:

  • be based in Solihull
  • show clear examples of originality, creativity and innovation
  • show clear example of how innovation has made a difference to communities and solved community challenges
  • demonstrate examples of collaborative partnerships

Our nomination form opens on Monday 20 October 2025.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 30 November 2025.
