Changes to Council services on Monday 19 September

Released:

Following the sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September, a bank holiday has been confirmed for Monday 19 September 2022, the day of the State Funeral. 

As a result some Council services will be affected:

Waste and Recycling Collections

No collections will take place on Monday 19 September. More details can be found here.

Leisure Centres

North Solihull Sports Centre and Tudor Grange Leisure Centre will both be closed. Customers who have bookings, lessons or a course on this date will be contacted by Everyone Active, who manage both centres on behalf of the Council.

Libraries

All libraries will be closed. 

Solihull Connect 

The Contact Centre (including adult social care) and Walk-in facilities will be closed - an Out of Hours emergency service will be available

The Core Theatre and Studio

The Core Theatre and Studio will not be holding its normal classes and courses on Monday 19 September. 

Funerals and Cemeteries

Funerals are still taking place on Monday 19 September. We have not asked anyone to cancel these but we will amend bookings at the request of funeral directors if families would prefer to rearrange their loved ones’ funerals.

Adult day services

All adult day services will be closed.  Please contact adult social care on 0121 704 8007 with any urgent issues that cannot wait until the next day.

Town centre car parks

M&S (Poplar Road) car park and Mell Square car park will be closed, they will be open as normal on Tuesday 20 September. Church Hill car park and Lode Lane car park will be open, however the pedestrian stairwells will not be unlocked, access can be gained via the entry/exit ramps. All other Council car parks will be open as normal.
