Bus lanes separate buses and vehicles, such as emergency services, from other road users. This helps to improve public transport reliability, ease traffic flow and encourage sustainable travel.

Penalty charge notices (PCN)
Motorists who breach bus lane restrictions will be recorded by cameras. If an offence is recorded, a PCN will be issued by post to the registered keeper of the vehicle.
PCNs are £70, reduced to £35 if paid within 21 days.
You can pay a PCN online or make a payment using our automated telephone system by calling 0300 456 0502. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Appeal a PCN
PCNs can be appealed within 28 days from the date the PCN was issued. If an appeal is received within 28 days, we have 56 days to consider the matter and send a response with the outcome of your appeal and the next steps.
Only the named keeper of the vehicle, or someone else with their written permission, can appeal. Please ensure that you include your PCN number.
You can appeal online or by sending a letter.
