Public rights of way records and consultations.
The Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council made the following order on Wednesday 28 July 2021 under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The order would divert the public footpath SL20A running from the north eastern edge of Arden Academy, Knowle off Milverton Road and heads in a north westerly direction skirting closely around various school buildings and then along a tarmac path and past another school building near Station Road. Following a consultation period, the Council received 3 objections/representations in respect of the above order.
Two of those objections remain unresolved and therefore, the order has been forwarded for determination to the Secretary of State.
A copy of the order, order map, statement of grounds and objections have been placed and may be seen free of charge at The Core Library, Homer Road, Touchwood, Solihull, B91 3RG.

Under Section 31(6) of the Highways Act 1980, landowners may deposit us with a map and statement which outlines public rights of way on their land. Submitted every 20 years, this offers protection from having new highways established through general public use.
On 1 October 2013, landowner statements were introduced through Section 15A(1) of the Commons Act 2006.
This process allows landowners to deposit a statement (known as a landowner statement) with the Local Authority in order prevent their land being registered as a town or village green, provided they are deposited before there has been 20 years recreational use of the land as of right.
We are able to restrict access to public rights of way to prevent anti social behaviour and crime. Anyone can raise a gating request. A decision will be made according to our alley gating procedure and on the understanding that:
