Penalty charge notices (PCN) explained

A PCN can be issued to any driver for not following parking restrictions e.g. parking on double yellow lines or school zig zags.

A PCN will either be attached to the vehicle or handed to the driver.

  • Low level contraventions (e.g. Parking with an expired pay and display ticket) -£50 (reduced to £25 if paid within 14 days)
  • Higher level contraventions (e.g. Parking on double yellow lines) - £70 (reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days)

Bus lanes or Bus Gate PCN’s

CCTV cameras monitor our bus lanes. A PCN will be sent to a registered keeper of a vehicle that uses a bus lane or drives through a bus gate when not allowed to do so.

The charge for driving in a bus lane is £70 (reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days)

The cost of Penalty Charge Notices are set by the Department for Transport. We are unable to accept payment in instalments.

We are not able to discuss Penalty Charge Notices in person, by the telephone or via social media. Any enquiries must be in writing so that we have an audit trail of all correspondence and the reasons behind any decisions made.
