At some point in your life, you may need help from adult social care. Our aim is to support your independence and wellbeing and enable you to live well.
Who we help
We support adults aged 18 and over with conditions such as:
- physical disabilities
- mental health conditions (e.g. depression, anxiety)
- learning disabilities
- cognitive impairments
- sensory impairments (e.g. sight or hearing loss)
- long-term illnesses (e.g. multiple sclerosis)
As a result of those needs, you might need support with:
- maintaining personal hygiene
- managing toilet needs
- preparing and eating food
- maintaining a safe home environment
- developing and maintaining relationships
- accessing work, education, volunteering or community services
If you provide unpaid care for an adult aged 18 or over on a regular basis, you are entitled to a carer's assessment. See support offer for carers for further information and advice.

To find out if you, or the person you care for, is eligible for adult social care, you will need to complete a needs assessment. The short video below provides further information.
