Commissioned youth projects
Solihull Council wants to ensure the best possible outcomes for young people. Assessing the needs of young people, setting priorities, designing and planning services, procuring services, monitoring the quality of the services and reviewing them against the intended outcomes. This is the commissioning process or cycle. Our goal is to work towards involving young people in our commissioning process, take a look at our Youth Voice page.
There are lots of Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) organisations working across Solihull who have not been commissioned by Solihull Council. Smith’s Wood Youth Project
This consists of 3 separates organisations: Winnr Sport who run the 8-10 year-olds group, Urban Heard run the 11–16 year-olds group and Fitcap work with 16-18 year-olds in the area. The groups offer safe spaces with trusted adults who run groups consisting of sports, arts, music and food. Free to attend for young people. For more information contact rowan@urbanheard.co.uk
Dickens Heath Youth clubs
Utilising the community hub on the grounds of Dickens Heath Primary School, a fun youth club takes place on a Monday (8-11 year-olds) and Friday (11-17 year-olds). To find out more contact: info@winnrsport.com
Solihull Youth Bus and detached youth work
Solihull Council now have a Youth Bus, utilised by the Council in collaboration with VCFSE organisations to take youth activities to young people who might not have access to youth clubs, as well as attend events. It will also be utilised by the Detached Outreach service run by Fitcap, where trained youth workers walk around key locations, to chat and get to know young people who are not accessing any youth activities. MAC Makes Music Project
Solihull Music Service working with The MAC to provide music opportunities to young people aged 11-18 at risk of or involved in crime or exploitation. A chance for young people to use music as an outlet for expression and build confidence. Sessions run twice a week from the Family Hubs. Referral only.
