We manage trees with safety inspections occurring every one to five years. We are working towards managing all trees in Solihull through a maintenance programme, involving tasks such as:
- dead wood removal
- pruning
- clearing pathways
- retiring trees at the end of their safe lifespan
How often we manage a tree depends on its location and the available space for growth.
Planting - Planting our Future
We have committed to planting 250,000 trees over the next 10 years through local engagement with schools, residents, businesses, and community groups with added support from Solihull Tree Wardens

Solar Panels
There is no legal requirement to prevent the shading of solar panels by trees, this is not considered a legal ‘nuisance’ by law.
The planned installation or presence of existing solar panels, on either a homeowner or third-party property, presents no justification for excessive reduction or removal of a protected tree.

Highway trees will not be removed to allow a vehicle crossover. If there is conflict with an established street tree on the public highway, a vehicle crossing cannot be constructed within the root protection area (RPA) of the tree.
