Continuing Professional Development and Internal Quality Assurance courses

Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) support 

We will carry out observations of Bikeability Level 2 delivery against the principles of the:

  • National Standard for Cycling
  • Cycle Training Delivery Guidance
  • Highway Code 17th edition 2024 (with September 2023 Hierarchy of Road Users Amendments)

We will provide a report, along with any recommendations, for the internal production of an IQA report to support your Bikeability Programme.  

The cost of the course is available on request.

Course details

Following agreement, the stages for course observation are:

  1. Allocation of observations by client of 90-120 minutes each course.
  2. Produce an observation report for each course.
  3. Produce an IQA report with recommendations based on the sample.

For observations of individual instructors:

  1. Allocation of observations by client of 60-90 minutes each instructor.
  2. Produce an observation report for each instructor.
  3. Produce an IQA report with recommendations.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training

We can deliver CPD to your team of Bikeability instructors to help maintain and enhance their knowledge, skills and experience, ensuring your instructors remain up to date and competent against the standards.

CPD training will help ensure your team stay up to date with: 

  • government policy including the National Standard for Cycling 2018 (and any amendments such as updates to the Highway Code)
  • training guidance produced by the Bikeability Trust
  • coaching guidance produced by 1st4Sport
  • industry best practice

We will help to:

  • refresh their teaching and coaching techniques
  • maintain safe practice whilst ensuring learners enjoy a progressive experience
  • uphold professional codes of conduct

This will help your cycling schemes to maintain quality, consistency, reflective practice, and meet accreditation thresholds.

The training will be tailored to your specific requirements and can include alignment with:

  • Bikeability Level 1, 2 and delivery methodology
  • mentoring
  • basic cycle maintenance
