Home or childminder - My child has significant developmental delay in three or more areas

Some children have a developmental delay in several areas of development.

If your child is not meeting most age-related expectations, they will need support to help them make progress.

If you have tried the approaches on our ‘Supporting your child's development’ page, but your child is still not making progress, then you should talk to your health visitor.

Your health visitor will need to assess your child's levels of development. If this shows a significant delay, they will make an Early Years Team Around the Child (EY TAC) referral. Your referral paperwork is sent to a multi-agency panel, who will decide what services your child needs.

An EY TAC referral can ask for support from our:

  • Early Years team
  • Solihull Inclusion Support Service Sensory and Physical Impairment (SISS SPI) team
  • Speech and Language Therapy team.

Areas of support

The EY TAC panel looks at each application for support and then decides which support is best suited to your child.
