Council services over Christmas and New Year

Solihull Council services over the festive season.

With Christmas around the corner, please be aware that some of our services will be unavailable or open at different times during the festive season.

Council offices and Solihull Connect

Council offices including the Solihull Connect contact centre and Solihull Connect Walk In centres will be closed on:

  • Wednesday 24 December 2025
  • Thursday 25 December 2025
  • Friday 26 December 2025
  • Thursday 1 January 2026
  • Friday 2 January 2026

We will be open as normal on all other weekdays.

Recycling and rubbish collections

There will be no collections on:

  • Thursday 25 December 2025
  • Friday 26 December 2025
  • Thursday 1 January 2026

We will be collecting on new dates if you have a Thursday or Friday collection.

There are no changes to our Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday collections.

Garden waste collections

There will be no garden waste collections over Christmas and New Year.

Our last collection will take place on Friday 19 December 2025 and will resume on Monday 19 January 2026.

Please check our bin collection calendar for your collection dates.

Bickenhill Household Waste and Recycling Centre

Bickenhill tip will be closed on:

  • Christmas Day
  • Boxing Day
  • New Year's Day

We also close at 2:00pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Family Hubs

Our Family Hubs will be closed on:

  • Wednesday 24 December 2025
  • Thursday 25 December 2025
  • Friday 26 December 2025
  • Thursday 1 January 2026

Libraries

Visit our library closures page for opening days and times. 

Cemeteries

Cemeteries are open from 9:00am to 4:30pm.

Except on:

  • Christmas Day and Boxing Day when open from 10:00am to 2:00pm
  • Sundays and bank holidays when we open from 10:00am to 4:30pm

Parking in Solihull

Parking enforcement in residential areas is suspended for the Christmas and New Year period. 

The suspension will be in place from 7:00am on Monday 22 December 2025 until 7:00am on Friday 2 January 2026. 

Parking relaxation applies to roads subject to single yellow line restrictions only. 

Leisure Centres

For opening hours visit the North Solihull Sports Centre or Tudor Grange Leisure Centre websites.
