Our Full Council meeting on Tuesday (13 May) is a significant one. It marks the end of the Mayor’s term of office and the confirmation of Cabinet positions. Most years this follows local elections but as this year was a ‘fallow year’, none were held.
Councillor Ian Courts, Leader of Solihull Council, volunteers from Veolia and Aldi, and staff from the Council’s Planting Our Future team joined together this week to plant 500 new saplings at Katherine’s Wood in Lavender Hall Park, Balsall Common.
Visitors to the NEC will soon be able to get around by hopping onboard a new self-driving shuttle service.
This will be my last message for a little while, the local elections are approaching and we’re about to enter the Pre-Election Period (PEP). More about that later, as I’d like to talk first about a couple of highlights from this week.
Last week, the winners and runners up of the Mayor’s annual Christmas card competition were presented with their awards by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Mrs Diana Holl-Allen MBE.
